Two posts in a single day, this must be a new achievement for me. Calm yourselves though, this promises to be a short entry, stemming only from my need to express... well... confusion. Be forewarned, what I am about to say might be mildly offensive to some. Remember, this is just me ranting! Ahem, moving on...
O.o
As I have mentioned before, I am currently working at MOE, and as it happens, today's job scope includes recording the feedback given by some english language scholars, regarding an attachment programme. Yet this simple task caused me to raise my eyebrows in surprise more than once. I do not profess to possess perfect english, and I know that people generally do not speak flawlessly, but these people are english scholars. So can somebody tell me why their written feedback is riddled with grammatical and spelling errors? I have perhaps about the most erroneous spelling there is, so the fact that I can catch the errors is saying something. And the grammar, well, I refuse to even get started on that. Okay, at this point I recognize that I am beginning to sound somewhat like an "english snob", as my mum so eloquently put it. I dont mean to judge, it's just me being... confused is all. I guess it makes sense that a person would not put that much thought into filling a feedback form.. but still. I dont know, i guess i expected to be awed by their proficiency in english (good writing is always a joy to read), and i suppose i was by quite a few of the respondents. It was just those few that grated on my nerves. Am i being too judgmental? I guess so. Oh well. I suppose this post ends here.
